Father's Day Crochet Doughnut Coaster

I know my doughnut is missing his hole!

So I ran across this really cute blog and found a pattern for a Father's Day Doughnut Card. I loved the idea and really wanted to make one but I already had a card and didn't think I had the time. I couldn't stop thinking about how cute that little doughnut card was and so having about 30 minutes, I decided to try it. Instead of a card, I made a coaster.  While I was making this coaster for my dad for Father's Day, I remembered how he used to bring home, a lot of mornings, Krispy Kreme doughnuts. He worked different shifts at International Paper Company. When he got off of work at 7:00AM, some mornings there would be people selling doughnuts to raise money for their organization. Well, my dad couldn't resist. (I'm glad too!)

I put the coaster inside his card and explained to him what it was. He just smiled from ear to ear. He loved it. He is a diabetic and I happily told him that he could have this doughnut anytime and it wouldn't raise his sugar levels. My dad is like most parents in that he likes things homemade and handmade no matter how big or small. I dare say it was a big hit and definitely a piece of conversation at our dinner table.

If you want to make the Doughnut card I found, here is a link to Meredith's Blog...One Sheepish Girl. She does a really good job of showing each step.

Because I only had 30 minutes, I didn't have time to stop and take pictures of my process. My pattern is a little different. And yes, I'm aware that my icing does not have a hole in it. My doughnut did though :)

This is my first time to write instructions for a pattern and share it publicly so please be nice. If you see where I could improve and make changes, please feel free to share! Your KIND constructive comments are welcomed.

Lastly, take any length of string for your sprinkles. Attach it to your tapestry needle and tie a knot in the end. Place your doughnut and icing together and sew them together. Weave in the ends and you are done.

Now, I'm gonna go make me some. (With holes in the icing, of course!)

NOW GO CROCHET  and most all...HAVE FUN!
